Lago D’Argento, (2609 N Hyperion Ave., Los Angeles, 90027; 323.300.5500) is opening Thursday. From the owner as Barbarella Bar, this place has a big, circular communal table. So grab a seat and order up dishes for the table like Meatballs Alforno, Picci Noodles (Braised short rib, leeks, cherry tomatoes, orange zest, parmesan breadcrumbs), Calamari Alforno (Couscous salad, spicy honey orange citronette, basil) and Pollo Rosticini (Grilled citrus herb marinated, chicken, arugula, grilled lemon).
Pizzas definitely dominate here. They have the Carnivore (Salami, fennel sausage, bacon, mozzarella), the Black Pepper Salami (Mushrooms, smoked mozzarella, red onion), the Bianca (Fontina cheese, mozzarella, smoked gouda, parmesan, bacon), the Delicious (Fennel sausage, fontina, red onions, scallions) the Truffle (Fontina, gruyere cheese, mushrooms, fresh herbs, truffle oil, arugula) and Prosciutto (Fig jam, goat cheese, arugula, extra virgin olive oil).
If you’re adventurous, try the Duck Sausage with barbecue sauce, gouda cheese, mushrooms, caramelized onions and scallions; the Dolce with caramelized pears, gorgonzola cheese, mozzarella and arugula; or the Shrimp Scampi with home-made pesto, tomato sauce, mozzarella and fresh dill.
Drinks come in the form of 10 oz martinis like the Elderflower Gimlet Gin (St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Lime Juice), the Lavender Cosmo (Citrus Vodka, Homemade Lavender Syrup, Lime & Cranberry Juice), the Ginger Cucumber (Vodka, Muddled Cucumber, Ginger Syrup, Lemon Juice) and Nuts & Berries (Vanilla Vodka, Chambord, Frangelico, Splash of Crème & Pineapple Juice). They also have specialty cocktails including La Paloma (Rosa Tequila, Orange Liqueur, Fresh Lime, Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice & Peychaud Bitters) and the Peach Mint Julep (Makers Mark Bourbon, Peach Schnapps, fresh Muddled mint, Splash of Soda).
