3rd Street Station

3rd Street Station‘s (8486 W 3rd; Mid-Wilshire; 323.782.8466) is a gastrobistro housed under a red & white-striped-awning with slatted-wood banquettes, a 10-seat bar all modeled after one of those cafes in train stations you can find across Europe.

This pub and casual brasserie pays hommage to this unique train station culture by blending Western European flavors with gastro pub, small plate cuisine from fresh, local ingredients.

The lunch menu features an assortment of salads and sandwiches, ranging from brasserie classics like niçoise salad and croque madame sandwich, as well as 3rd Street Station originals, such as the braised pork belly Panini. The dinner menu features an array of small and large plates, like beer-battered fish n’ chips; New York strip loin with bordelaise sauce and duck fat cippolini onions; pork shoulder chick pea spatzel and pickled brussels sprouts; a sous vide Niman Ranch short rib with a chanterelle mushroom fricassee, Carlsbad Aquafarm smoked blond oysters, and duck fat fries, ranging from $6 – $7 (small plates) and $9 – $15 (large plates). They also have a late night menu!

Their happy hour or “Cinq à Sept” is from 5-7, and they serve featured menu items at half price, as well as drink specials on various beer, wine, and specialty cocktail. The cocktail list has specialties like the Runaway Train, (rum, lime, passion fruit, creme de banana), Tunnel Vision (Pear vodka, Elderflower liqueur, lime, champagne), a very Euro beer list which is updated frequently and displayed on an electronic board once used for depot arrivals and departures and an imported wine list.

Opens tomorrow and open daily 11 am-2 am.
