Al Fresco Cocktails & Dining

It’s SUMMER! Time to grab your friends and some bevys outdoors. Here are some of the best spots to do just that:

High @ Hotel Erwin
The Venice Hotel’s rooftop bar gives you panoramic views of Venice, Marina del Rey and Santa Monica’s coastline. Sip cocktails with some snacks and take in the sun. If it gets chilly, ask for a complimentary blanket and plunk yourself under a heat lamp. 1697 Pacific Ave., Los Angeles, 90291; 310.452.1111

Venice Whaler
You can head down the block to this casual (also coastal) spot. Munch of seafood dishes and grab some drinks! The entire upstairs is an open-air patio enclosed by plexiglass walls. It’s a great spot to watch a game with flat screens everywhere you’re faced. 10 Washington Blvd., Venice, 90292; 310.821.8737

Polo Lounge
If you’re having an “I’m not a starving artist moment” (which I have from time to time) hit up the overpriced Beverly Hills Hotel patio lounge. While you sip your cocktail in the classic, historic scenery, enjoy the complimentary munchies. At The Beverly Hills Hotel, 9641 Sunset Blvd., Beverly Hills, 90210; 310.276.2251

The Eveleigh
New to the scene, this little retreat off of Sunset Strip has a small garden patio in front and spacious sun-lit deck in back. Order up one of their delicious specialty drinks perfect for summer. They aren’t too sweet. These drinks are refined with all homemade juices and ingredients. 8752 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood; 90069

Tropicana
When you think summer in Hollywood, you think Tropicana. It’s the weekly summer party. There is plenty of space to lounge and grab a cocktail. Relax, dancing, swim and enjoy the Hollywood fun. At The Roosevelt, 7000 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, 90028; 323.466.7000

Skybar
This is an oldie but a goodie. It has some of the best views of the city, with a wooden-plank deck surrounding the pool it’s a relaxing post-work/weekend afternoon drinks with friends and the cabana at night can be some cozy romantic fun. At The Mondrian Hotel, 8440 West Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood; 323.848.6025

Reel Inn
The 25-year-old PCH spot has history. Situated along the Malibu coast, the restaurant and it’s outdoor patio are loved for the minimalism and commitment to being simple and straightforward. Hit up the Reel Inn for some beach day beers or margaritas to go along with your seafood cravings. 18661 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, 90265; 310.456.8221

Geoffrey’s Malibu
Also in the Malibu neighborhood, this is a great upscale spot to overlook the ocean with some weekend mimosas. Stay there all night, the heat lamps to keep you warm. 27400 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, 90265; 310.457.1519

The Standard Downtown
Sick of the coastline? (I know, me too) Swim, dance and party in between the skyscrapers of Downtown L.A. Swimming with Sharks is this weekly rooftop  party. Snag a couch, vibrating waterbed pod, or spot on the AstroTurf with a cocktail. 550 South Flower St., Los Angeles; 213.892.8080,

Chateau Marmont
They have one of the prettiest garden patios in town and a staple for outdoor dining and drinking, day or night in LA. Even though you and the pretty people are in the hear to fit, you feel removed in your own little lush escape. 8221 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, 90046; 323.656.1010
