Sun Cafe

Sun Cafe, (10820 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604; 818.927.4100) the award winning vegan and organic mainstay has a new home, and most importantly that home has a pretty nifty bar. You’ll still have all of the incredible “I can’t believe it’s vegan” dishes that made the original location famous, like the mac and cheese with quinoa pasta with cashew cheese and the Sun Chorizo lettuce tacos made with seeds, nuts, and avocado, but now will have delicious and also very vegan cocktails, beers, and wines to go with them. The thing that sets Sun Cafe apart is it’s not pretentious or showy about its veganness. (Is that a word?) It’s delicious food that just happens to be vegan, and the same will be true for its drinks. The wines served, for the most part organic and vegan, have been carefully chosen by winery along with the selection of beers, which are also vegan, on tap. Some notable ones are Racer 5 IPA and Allagash White, along with the extremely limited Almamac “From Farm to Bottle” beer, which is so rare and coveted they can’t use officlal Almanac beer spouts because they often get stolen as collector items. You must also try the Zurra Blanca Sangria, made with peaches and coriander soaked in pinot grigio for a day and a half, and chai spice sangria will available as well.
