Pierside Hotel Opens in Santa Monica
The Pierside Hotel, located in the heart of downtown Ocean Avenue and Colorado, debuts following a multi-million-dollar reimagination as a premium lifestyle hotel. This is the first hotel to open on the renowned Ocean Avenue in over a decade. It’s the closest to the Santa Monica pier, making it an iconic destination for travelers and locals alike. - Friedman Benda is pleased to present Ebitenyefa Baralaye’s solo debut titled, Making Space: Tracing Tomorrow. The calculated and intuitive show offers viewers a look into Baralaye’s exploration of Black Diaspora through a collection of contemporary works by the ceramicist. Presenting three distinct bodies of work, the exhibition reflects Baralaye’s personal negotiation of and concern with the fragmented and transitional presence of the Black diaspora. The up-and-coming artist explores cultural, spiritual, and material forms, texts, and symbols interpreted through a diaspora lens and abstracted through an extensive education in craft and design. 2/15 – 3/18
- Estúdio Campana announces a unique exhibition at Friedman Benda Los Angeles, a unique honoring design extraordinaire Fernando Campana. The show will premiere a selection of brand-new works and includes an extensive arc of objects, surveying the pivotal impact of Estúdio Campana in the 21st century and referencing key moments from the first 15 years of the studio’s existence. 2/15 – 4/15

Mark your calendars! The date for the 6th annual Masters of Taste has been announced. The premier outdoor luxury food and beverage festival will return to the historic Pasadena Rose Bowl on 4/2 with Chef Michael Reed and Kwini Reed as Hosts. Host Chef Michael Reed is a classically trained chef and restaurateur who has spent 19 years as a chef for restaurants across New York and Los Angeles. Today, Chef Reed is the co-owner and Executive Chef behind two Los Angeles restaurants, Poppy + Rose of Downtown Los Angeles and Anaheim’s Poppy & Seed.
