Launched in 2016 by female tech entrepreneur Yuki He, LiveMe encourages people to be authentically who they are in a safe space filled with support and happiness. Whether you’re a singer, performer, or just looking to interact with new friends, LiveMe is for everyone. The slogan is ‘My Stage My Crowd. “We believe everyone is a star, and we want you to find and build your own world!” says He.

Since its launch in April 2016, LiveMe has been one of the fastest-growing streaming platforms. With 110 million downloads, it’s available worldwide for iOS and Android in more than 226 countries and regions, and supports 9 languages, including English, Japanese, Indonesian, Hindi, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, and Traditional Chinese.

What separates LiveMe from other social networking platforms?

According to Yuki He, “LiveMe is exactly what it says; everything is LIVE and in real-time. We have a streaming platform that allows you to instantly interact with broadcasters. Unlike other platforms where you enter a comment on someone’s feed, and maybe you’ll get a response days or weeks later, if at all, with us, you’re directly communicating with that broadcaster. No wait or delay. We want to spread happiness. Some people are alone. Maybe they are shy or have a hard time making friends. This is the place for them! LiveMe is a place to discover who you are while making friends who support you. It’s a family.”

LiveMe holds events for broadcasters and viewers to meet, all streamed live, of course. Members travel to events from all over the world to interact with their audiences and fellow LiveMe broadcasters. Events often include performances, by broadcasters, and some include performances from celebrities like hip hop star French Montana. I recently had the opportunity to attend one of these events and was blown away by the pure positivity spreading amongst the crowd. I was a guest at the LiveMe Annual Gala in Los Angeles, where I had a front-row seat to watch some of their most popular broadcasters perform, speak, and interact with one another. They really are like a family. Beyond your average award applause, cheers of support, and love were yelled from the crowd to each person who took the stage. People were genuinely happy to be around their LiveMe friends. Throughout the evening, everyone was live streaming the event and sharing the experience with all their viewers. It was like nothing I’d ever seen before.

What kind of content is on LiveMe?

I know what you’re thinking… I’m not the best singer or dancer; who would want to tune into my life? You would be surprised how many people are longing for contact, and want to interact with you. LiveMe is Your Stage and Your Crowd. If you love singing, sing your heart out, and people will listen and watch. Break out of your stage fright and use LiveMe as your acting or dance class. You may want to talk to someone while at home doing your daily activities. Want to practice a new makeup look? LiveMe is the perfect audience. LiveMe is for every kind of broadcaster and every kind of viewer.

Now my curiosity peaked, and I had to join the platform. I checked out several broadcasters’ pages, and here’s what I saw… Two people were singing, one was playing the piano, and a few were dancing. I stopped by one room where several broadcasters were all talking and hanging out from their individual homes. Some were dressed in full hair and makeup, while others lounged in their glasses, sweatpants, and t-shirts. Remember, it’s your stage; you choose how you want to present yourself without pressure or judgment. The bottom line, LiveMe viewers appreciate all kinds of content. Be yourself and do what is true to you.

And then there’s the compensation. That’s right, not only are you able to be your authentic self, with the world as your audience, but you also can get paid. Some broadcasters see this as a hobby, while others make it their professional career. Not only do they receive gifts/payments from their fans, but they also get benefits from LiveMe. As a thank you to the broadcasters, the platform also gives them gifts depending on the volume and activity of their fan base. Past gifts included trips, cash prizes, and a VIP invite to a private birthday party for singer Khalid. The gifts help incent broadcasters to generate new content. Broadcasters can also use LiveMe, for E-commerce, allowing them to sell their products and services. LiveMe provides banners and other marketing materials to help broadcasters promote their brands and channels.
