Odys + Penelope

Odys + Penelope, (127 S La Brea Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90036; 323.939.1033) a new dinner destination from Quinn and Karen Hatfield opening Monday.

The industrial space (designed by Alexis Readinger of Preen Inc) has exposed, high ceilings, an open kitchen, brick walls, and wooden tables/bar accented by red chairs.

Dishes include small bites/starters like hot skillet focaccia with dandelion greens and parmesan; fried wild mushroom with Persian garlic sauce; and charred Monterey squid with hearts of palm, haricot vert and chermoula.

Main dishes include grilled fresh water trout; house made pappardelle with sausage and roasted butternut squash; Niman Ranch churrasco porchetta; Wagyu tri tip; and grilled rack of lamb. Specials from the Brasero include flash grilled Santa Barbara spot prawns, bacon wrapped chicken thighs, dry rubbed smoked short ribs, and dry aged churrasco sirloin cap. Sides include creamy kale, shaved Brussels sprouts, maple ginger candied yams, and house made ricotta and millet pesto. Save room for a dessert like chocolate pie with peanut crumble and a rye crust.

Cocktails include creations like the Smoke Stack made with chipotle infused tequila, lime, agave and smoked salt; the Brown Derby Alt made with Bourbon, blood oj and honey; the Vendome Sling made with gin, cherry brandy, lime and ginger beer; and the Foxtail made with vodka, apple brandy, citrus, bitters and prosecco. They also have a small list of bottled beer and a larger wine list in categories like earthy, ripe, 10+ years of age, bright, and rich.

Also, 18% service charge is automatically charged to all food and beverage.
