Mírate Debuts New Weekend Brunch

Award-winning Mexican favorite Mírate has debuted a new brunch menu from Executive Chef Alan Sanz. Inspired by his childhood in Mexico City, the menu offers a playful and personal take on Mexican classics through a California lens. Alongside Chef Alan’s latest brunch items, guests can enjoy award-winning complementary cocktails from beverage director Max Reis like Micheladas and low-ABV Pulque Curados. Various prices; Saturdays – Sundays, 11:00am-3:00 pm; 1712 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027; 323. 649.7937

  • Pistachio & Avocado Egg Toast ($17) – Inspired by weekend farmers markets in Mexico City where vendors sell guacamole topped with queso fresco, and LA’s love for avocado toast, Chef Alan blends stracciatella, avocado, and pistachio into a “guacamole,” finished with a poached egg and spicy chiltepin.
  • Burrito Mojado ($24) – Plot twist: Mexico doesn’t really “do” burritos, according to Chef Alan, but he’s ready to debut LA’s next favorite breakfast burrito. This Mexican-American take is a cross between an LA breakfast burrito and a Tijuana burrito made with stewed meats. Made with eggs, bacon, ribeye, roasted poblano, and topped with salsa verde and cheese for a messy, delicious bite.
  • Huevos Rancheros ($32) – A personal take on the classic Mexican brunch item and inspired by the 10AM ‘huevos al comal’ served by women in morning markets. This rendition is made with Denver steak, sunny-side-up eggs, salsa molcajete, and frijoles puercos, topped with hoja santa, a local herb from Southern Mexico with a licorice flavor.
  • Flautas de Barbacoa ($25) – What is brunch if not a hangover cure? For Chef, flautas were tied to weekends (and hangovers), with every town claiming a favorite spot. This version channels that nostalgia with lamb barbacoa, avocado, creme fraiche, queso fresco, and salsa borracha (literally translating to ‘drunk salsa,’ made with chilies and fermented pulque…talk about having your drink and eating it, too).
