Contemporary Elegance Meets Resort-Style Comfort at the Sheraton Redding Hotel at the Sundial Bridge

Just a two-hour flight from Los Angeles lies Redding, a charming Northern California city of 92,000 that’s about to become your next favorite weekend getaway. And there’s no better place to stay than the Sheraton Redding Hotel at the Sundial Bridge, a property that offers “Contemporary Elegance with Resort-Style Comfort.” I recently discovered this hidden gem during their enchanting 5th annual Garden of Lights festival, where it perfect location and luxurious amenities proved that any Redding adventure must begin and end at this exceptional hotel.

Turtle Bay Exploration Park

The hotel’s location is nothing short of spectacular, situated at the entrance of the 300-acre Turtle Bay Exploration Park and the world-famous Sundial Bridge. This architectural marvel, designed by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava and completed in 2004 at a cost of $23.5 million, isn’t just any bridge – it’s a functioning sundial that perfectly marks time on the summer solstice. The 700-foot cantilever span gracefully crosses the Sacramento River, where you can watch fly fishermen cast their lines in the crystal-clear waters below.

Dining at the hotel’s signature restaurant Mosaic became a nightly pleasure, with its hearth-baked pizzas, hearty entrées, and fresh salads served in a family-friendly atmosphere. The communal tables and heated outdoor seating created the perfect setting to sample Northern California’s renowned wines. For casual fare and great coffee, the Branch House Riverfront Bistro proved to be the perfect spot to start each day, while Mosaic Bar became my favorite spot for evening relaxation.
