Momed, the beloved Atwater Village gem, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special Immigrant Chef Series. This month-long culinary extravaganza brings together renowned Los Angeles chefs with rich immigrant backgrounds to showcase their unique culinary heritages.

A Celebration of Diversity and Culinary Excellence

Each Monday throughout September, guests can embark on a flavorful journey with a seven-course tasting menu ($80, $35 wine pairing) curated by Momed’s talented Chef Vartan Abgaryan in collaboration with a different guest chef. This series offers a unique opportunity to experience the diverse and vibrant flavors that make Los Angeles a culinary melting pot.

My Experience at Momed’s Immigrant Chef Series

I had the privilege of attending the first installment of the series, featuring Chef Susan Yoon from Orsa & Winston. The tasting menu was a symphony of flavors, showcasing the best of Korean and Mediterranean cuisine. Highlights included the savory Tomato Kimchi with its perfect balance of tang and spice, the tender Grilled Summer Squash with its smoky char, and the indulgent Pork Ribs glazed in a sweet and spicy gochugaru sauce. The Hotteok “Korean Pancake” was a delightful sweet ending to the meal, with its crispy exterior and warm, gooey center.

Beyond the Food

Beyond the incredible food, the series is also making a positive impact on the community. A portion of the proceeds from each dinner goes towards charitable organizations like the Armenian Relief Society, Immigrant Center for Women and Children, International Rescue Committee, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, and the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles.
