Concern Foundation Holds Out-Of-This-World Annual Block Party at Paramount Studios

Houston, we have a problem… but it’s a problem we can fix together! On Saturday, July 13th, the Concern Foundation’s 49th Annual Block Party launched Hollywood into another dimension, raising vital funds for cancer research with an “Out-of-This-World” theme. And let me tell you, it was one giant leap for mankind!

From the moment we entered the historic Paramount Studios backlot, it was clear we were in for a night like no other. Over 4,000 guests flooded the backlots, decked out in their most creative space-age attire (think astronaut chic and shimmering constellations!), and mingled under a canopy of stars (both real and projected). The air crackled with electric energy fueled by the Tom Nolan Band’s electrifying performance and the intoxicating beats spun by the DJ. Even the event staff got in on the act, with Storm Troopers patrolling the perimeter, Darth Vader lurking in the shadows, and futuristic robots mingling with space girls on roller skates. It was a truly immersive experience that transported us all to a galaxy far, far away.

But the real stars of the show were the culinary creations! We embarked on a galactic gastronomic journey, indulging in bite-sized portions from over 40 of LA’s most celebrated restaurants. Imagine: melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu beef from Fogo de Chão, delicate sushi from Nobu Malibu, and decadent desserts from Sugar & Grace Bakeshop – all under the same roof (or rather, “space station”). Wine connoisseurs sipped on stellar selections from wineries like DAOU Vineyards and J. Lohr, while cocktail enthusiasts savored innovative concoctions courtesy of BuzzBar and Dulce Vida Tequila.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without some stellar entertainment! We gambled (responsibly of course) at casino tables where proceeds benefitted the cause, captured memories in themed photo booths, and enjoyed live music that transported us to a different galaxy. Plus, the Beauty Bus was on hand, offering free Princess Leia hairdos, sparkle glitter glamour makeovers, and beauty freebies. For those seeking ultimate pampering, the Fairmont Spa Century Plaza offered spa services that were out-of-this-world!

But the true magic of the evening wasn’t just the glitz and the glam – it was the underlying purpose. The Concern Foundation has been waging war on cancer since 1968, and this event served as a powerful reminder of their unwavering commitment. The silent and live auctions offered incredible opportunities to score once-in-a-lifetime experiences while directly supporting cancer research.

Let me tell you, this wasn’t just your average fundraiser. It was an unforgettable evening filled with laughter, delicious food, and the promise of a brighter future. Mark your calendars for next year, because this is one event you won’t want to miss!
