The OC Fair is back, and this year, Fun Biz, the undisputed king of creative fair food, has outdone themselves with their new Bacon Nation booth. It’s a bacon lover’s paradise, and my bacon-loving friend and I were lucky enough to be one of the first to indulge.
My bacon-loving bestie was in hog heaven. The Candy Bacon Pork Belly Bites (Bacon-wrapped pork belly cut into pieces and caramelized with brown sugar and butter) were his first target. And let me tell you, he devoured every bite with gusto. The sweet and savory combination was apparently a match made in culinary heaven. Next up was the Maple Bacon Smoothie, a sweet and savory concoction that combines crisp bacon, paprika, maple syrup and rich yogurt. The Bacon Churros were the grand finale. From his enthusiastic moans, I could tell he was in food coma territory.
While my friend was busy indulging in his bacon-filled odyssey, I opted for the classic comfort fair food at Fun Biz’s Spud Ranch booth. Their Loaded Baked Potatoes and Homemade Potato Chips were the perfect antidote to all the bacon madness.
If you’re a bacon aficionado, the Bacon Nation booth is an absolute must-visit. But even if you’re not a pork product enthusiast like me, there’s plenty of delicious fair food to be found at the OC Fair.
