A corner of Paris has come to the heart of Beverly Hills with the opening of Parfums de Marly. The world-renowned luxury fragrance brand opened its inaugural California location in Beverly Hills on August 10th , 2023. The boutique boasts a unique blend of classic and bold aesthetics, incorporating noble materials and contemporary inspirations. Spanning two floors, this space provides an immersive experience into the House’s world, embodying the vision of its founder, Julien Sprecher.
Welcome to the enchanting world of Parfums de Marly, where splendor, savoir-faire, and audacity intertwine. Designed by French architect Hubert de Malherbe, the boutique embodies a unique concept that harmonizes heritage and modernity. Step into a singular space where the spirit of an 18th-century French château gracefully mingles with the allure of a contemporary Parisian apartment. Deconstructed moldings, oak reinterpretations of Versailles parquet, champagne-tone metal marquetry, and a reinvented classic chandelier adorn the luminous marble-clad setting. Here, you’ll encounter an interactive olfactorium and a digitized Château de Marly, resonating with olfactory creations crafted from noble raw materials and innovation. The journey continues upstairs, leading to a private salon dedicated to exclusive events and masterclasses beneath a spectacular ceiling that pays homage to celestial globes reminiscent of the Château de Marly’s grandeur.
Private Visits
A Château… in Trompe-l’oeil
Upon arrival at Parfums de Marly, guests are greeted by an impressive château crafted in finely engraved marble with a grand screen, paying homage to the architecture of the eponymous palace. A lesser-known fact is that the Château de Marly, a royal residence built for the Sun King in 1679, featured a frescoed façade that was, in reality, an opulent trompe-l’oeil adorned with trophies and low-relief embellishments.
The Olfactorium: A Personalized Journey
Emphasizing that perfumes appeal to the senses and emotions, Parfums de Marly offers a bespoke olfactive experience centered around its emblematic ingredients, such as damascena rose and precious woods. This unique Haute Parfumerie savoir-faire allows visitors to discover the House’s craftsmanship, with the experience evolving seasonally.
Original Creations: A Whimsical Elegance
Delina’s addictive bouquet, Layton’s ambery floral elegance, and Haltane’s refined precious woods are Parfums de Marly’s incomparable fragrances. Positioned on a central table adorned with motifs reminiscent of French gardens, the House’s emblematic horses invite exploration into their unique, noble, and indomitable olfactory style.
Echoes of the 18th Century: Reimagined Refinement
The hearth, exquisitely tailored in black marble with curves inspired by the Louis XV style, captures the essence of the 18th-century refinement, reinterpreted for the modern era. A large mirror framed in gilded wood, carefully sourced from antiquity and modernized by a large screen, enhances the ambiance of the boutique.
The Art of Gifting: Sublime Elegance
At Parfums de Marly, the art of gifting is elevated to its pinnacle. With meticulous attention to detail, each selected and wrapped perfume becomes a beautifully refined gift. Beyond their enchanting fragrances, Parfums de Marly imparts a distinct lifestyle wherever they go, reflecting a true savoir-faire in the art of gift-giving.
Perfume Represents Freedom
Yvan Jacqueline has skillfully steered the luxury brand Parfums de Marly as its Managing Director for the past 11 years. His passion for fragrance and his unique perspective are clear. “To me, perfume represents the power and the magic of the invisible,” says Yvan, who views it as a second skin. “Perfume also represents freedom – the freedom to highlight any part of your personality and become the person you truly are or the person you want to be. You can wear perfume as a statement to feel confident, as a vector of seduction, or simply to feel at peace with yourself.”
