I recently had the opportunity to connect with Luke McEndarfer, President/CEO & Artistic Director of the National Children’s Chorus during their annual fundraising gala in Los Angeles to discuss the NCC’s mission and their upcoming UK tour featuring local Los Angeles student, Cody Holmes.
The National Children’s Chorus annual fundraiser is a bi-coastal event in both Los Angeles and New York. This year’s gala was titled All You Need is Love in theme for the announcement of the NCC’s upcoming UK Tour and recording session at Abbey Road Studios made famous by The Beatles.
The gala made for an exquisite evening, celebrating the remarkable achievements of the NCC students, with proceeds benefiting the NCC’s scholarship program. The unique thing about this gala is that 100% of the proceeds from both events went to benefit the NCC Scholarship Fund so that students can have access to world-class music education around the U.S. and abroad.
Top students from each chapter of the NCC including local Angeleno, Cody Holmes, were selected to fly to the UK this July to participate in a tour that will stop in England, Scotland, and Wales. It will also include the NCC recording their first-ever Christmas album at Abbey Road Studios. In addition, the tour ends with a high-profile performance in London with world-renowned Voces8.
Among the most exciting and fastest-growing music institutions for youth in the nation, the National Children’s Chorus provides unparalleled training to talented singers locally and abroad. The NCC has more than 35 choirs and 1,000 students based in the chapter cities of Los Angeles, New York City, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Austin, Dallas, Boston, and most recently Vail, Colorado, for the recently launched opera camp.
