Saturday

Corey Helford Gallery Presents While We Wait by Richard Ahnert

Corey Helford Gallery welcomes you to their first solo show of the year, While We Wait by Toronto-based artist Richard Ahnert. The exhibit takes anthropomorphic painting to a new level, lacing it with a quiet, yet unmistakable animism – an abiding kinship between human and animal. He uses the relationship between animals and humans to explore themes of emotion, metaphor, and narrative with a satirical twist. Storytelling, understated humor, and deep reflection are at the heart of his practice. In While We Wait, Ahnert invites us to observe wild and domestic animals in urban settings, interacting with common objects they would be unlikely to encounter in their natural environment. Free; Tuesdays – Saturdays; 7 – 11:00 pm; Corey Helford Gallery – 571 S. Anderson St., Gallery 3, Los Angeles, CA 90033; 310.287.2340
