The restaurant pays homage to former DTLA staple, Modern Times Dankness Dojo with great food, curated beers from around the globe, wine-based cocktails & spritzes, and now their own brewed craft beer! Chef Suzanne Goin curated a special menu of various dishes inspired by Oakland-based chef Tanya Holland’s third cookbook, California Soul. Holland’s cookbook features a collection of modern soul food with more than 80 seasonally inspired comfort-filled recipes that trace the roots of modern California soul food to the Great Migration. Chef Michael Mina’s Mother Tongue restaurant launches weekend brunch. Located within HEIMAT, the world’s first concept fitness club, Mother Tongue is known for serving comfort foods that nourish the body and mind. The new weekend brunch features Kuushi Oysters, Sweet Potato Latkes, Shakshuka, Avocado Toast, MTLA (eggs) Benedict, Tofu Scramble, Pacifico Striped Bass Crudo, Whole Grain Griddle Cakes, Breakfast Burger, as well as a platter of gluten-free pastries.
