Creative director and SIZED founder Alexander May is expanding his brand with SIZED STUDIO. The Kebab Shop Ramps Up Expansion Efforts
SoCal-based, fast-casual Mediterranean eatery The Kebab Shop is ramping up its expansion efforts with three new locations this fall in California. The menu features bites like the San Diego Wrap, filled with a Kebab choice (such as seasoned carved chicken or tender lamb), award-winning fries, feta cheese, garlic yogurt, greens, tomato-cucumber, and red onion, and the customizable, refreshing plates atop fragrant saffron rice, with sides such as fall-apart falafel, spicy hummus pita, and Mediterranean chickpea salad. The growing restaurant chain will soon have 30 locations nationally, including Northridge (set to open mid-November), with El Segundo and Atwater Village soon to follow. This weekend, brush off your Sunday Best because the Paw Works Animal Rescue hosts the 6th annual Ties & Tails Gala. Paw Works is a nonprofit rescue organization that partners with county and city shelters to give abandoned animals a second chance at life. The theme of this year’s gala is Barking Mad, an ode to Alice in Wonderland, and the evening features a red-carpet event, cocktail hour, dinner, music, and silent and live auctions. The Green Room, the sexy speakeasy nestled in the Burbank hills, is hosting its second educational series event of the year, Master Class: Art of Beverage, during which Nosotros will take guests on a tour through the history of their premium quality agave-spirits. Attendees will experience a guided tasting of four varietals of Nosotros Tequila and Mezcal, each of which will be paired with elevated bites prepared by The Green Room’s Executive Chef Czarina Sico. The evening’s food menu will feature items like Smoked Hamachi, Prawn Skewers with agave lime glaze, Blue Corn Empanadas, and more! Portuguese-inspired restaurant Caldo Verde invites you to a special one-night event. Chef Suzanne Goin curated a special menu of various dishes inspired by Oakland-based chef Tanya Holland’s third cookbook, California Soul. Holland’s cookbook features a collection of modern soul food with more than 80 seasonally inspired comfort-filled recipes that trace the roots of modern California soul food to the Great Migration. Caldo Verde’s limited California Soul menu will include a Fried Artichoke Po’Boy, Gumbo Z’herbes with Dungeness Crab and Prawns, Sorghum and Cinnamon-Glazed Pork Loin, and Gravenstein Apple Hand Pie.
