Ramen Nagi

Renowned Japanese shop Ramen Nagi has officially landed in SoCal just in time for L.A. sweater weather!

With his third US location in the Westfield Century City Mall, founder Chef Ikuta has brought his 17 years of cult status and experience to a very competitive L.A. ramen scene and incredibly raised the bar with his expertly crafted combination of broth and noodles. His broth ranges from their classic pork marrow bone Tonkotsu, which is cooked for 24 hours, to the Niboshi, a sardine and soy-sauce broth, and many varieties in between. Guests start their bowl by choosing between the Original, Black King (squid ink), Red King (spicy), Green King (basil), the Veggie King with cauliflower purée and hash potato “chashu” and shiitake mushrooms and spinach, and the “limited” King Seasonal Special. And in Nagi fashion, you can customize your bowl according to type of pork cut, noodle thickness, noodle doneness, oil density, saltiness, and even level of garlic! Each type is so flavorful and distinct from one another, you’ll want to try them all. Or if you’re overwhelmed by the choices, you can sit back and relax by choosing the chef’s recommendation. Either way, you’ll be in good hands. (Photo Credit: © 2018 Marc Fiorito // Gamma Nine Photography)

Chef Ikuta did not stop at ramen. The Karaage (Japanese fried chicken) along with its housemade sauce is delicious, the Gyoza is both tasty and looks like a work of art, and the Chashu Rice is a must to complement the meal.

Ramen Nagi features a fresh, vibrant dining room next to an open kitchen, so diners can view the masters at work. Nestled on the outside of Bloomingdales on the second floor, Nagi does not take reservations so it’s first come, first serve. You’ll want to catch their seasonal specials like the Truffle King, so come often and come early! $13.50+; Monday – Sunday, 11:00 am – 2:30 pm and 5 – 9:00 pm; Westfield Century City – 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., Ste 2850, Los Angeles, CA 90067
