Mandarette Chinese Cafe celebrated its 35th Anniversary this past year, and if it was up to their diehard fanbase of locals and those in the know, they will be around for another 35 years. The Beverly Grove mainstay, led by Owner Ken Yang, started as a sister restaurant of the historic Mandarin in Beverly Hills, and has been in the family ever since. Yang’s father helped create the menu made up of classic comfort Chinese food along with interesting spins on the classics, never overloaded with sauce but always made with love. Like any great Chinese restaurant, they will have something for every palate, mood, and celebration.
Some new dishes to celebrate with are the Classic Three Cup Chicken, Braised Beef Noodle Soup, perfect for those chilly LA nights, and the Sichuan Poached Fish Fillet. Their staples like the Won Ton Soup and Kung Pao Shrimp also hit the spot, but their must have is the signature Crispy Strawberry Shrimp. This delicacy is only available at the Mandarette and unlike anything you’ve ever tasted. The other must have is the Lobster Noodle, which features a huge lobster tail over a bed of noodles. With so many delicious dishes to choose from, you’ll keep wanting to come back to try something new. They offer take out as well, but you might want to dine in to catch some A- list celebrities, some of which have been coming for generations.
