Dine Out Long Beach, Restaurant Week 2.0 Hosts a free Chefs’ Cooking + Tasting Series

Long Beach Restaurant Week starts on Sunday, February 24 and continues through March 2 with more than 50 restaurants participating citywide. To celebrate, featured chefs at the Chefs’ Cooking + Tasting Series, whose restaurants are participating in Dine Out Long Beach, Restaurant Week 2.0, include: Laurie Grey of The Pie Bar  in Downtown Long Beach (noon); Chef Louise Solzman of Table 301 located on The Promenade in Downtown Long Beach (1 pm); Adam Stearns of The Ordinarie doing mixology lessons (2 pm); and Jessica Saydah of Naples Rib Co.  located on Naples Island (3 pm). Each chef will demonstrate a signature dish from within one of state-of-the-art exhibition kitchens at Friedmans Home Experience. You can chat with chefs about techniques while learning recipes you can recreate at home. Recipe cards are available while supplies last. The owner of Marina Wine (formerly Five O’Clock Wine Bar) will be hosting wine tasting while Stella Artois will serve their signature Belgium beer to guests in a keepsake chalice. ‘Singles Awareness Day’

With ‘Lonely’ drinks specials such as Call Me Never (Grey Goose vodka, lemonade, pom juice, tropical red bull), Cupid Can Suck It (Rayu Espadin mezcal, pineapple juice, lemon juice, lime juice cilantro) and You’ll Do…I Guess, (Bone Snapper rye, lemon juice, honey, sage) the High Rooftop Bar at Hotel Erwin in Venice is inviting singles to mingle at its day after Valentine’s ‘Singles Awareness Day’ bash.  The S.A.D. party includes a unique one night only list of conversation starting cocktails (see attached), flirty finger food, heat lamps, complimentary blankets and a DJ from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Reserve a table or enjoy standing room only. The Language of Flowers: A Valentine’s Workshop

Santa Monica Place Commemorates the Year of the Pig

Celebrate with Santa Monica Place’s annual Lunar New Year celebration. This year’s celebration will be hosted by comedian Paul “PK” Kim, along with authentic cultural performances and activities and a special appearance by popular K-pop dance group, First Bite. Activities and performances include the traditional Chinese lion dance, Korean fan dance, stilt walkers, traditional dough artist, balloon twister, classical folk music from a Chinese musical duo, New Year’s Wishing Trees and family-friendly arts and crafts. The Lunar New Year Celebration at The Original Farmers Market

To celebrate the most important day of the year on the Chinese calendar, and the beginning of the Year of the Pig, The Original Farmers Market will be hosting a Lunar New Year celebration in conjunction with The Grove. The afternoon will kick off with an unveiling of a 400-lb steel handmade pig statue in honor of the zodiac symbol, which will be followed by an authentic Kung Fu demonstration, acrobatic performance, Beijing Opera’s Monkey King, a magic show by Johnny Wu, traditional lion and dragon dances, themed craft making stations and a live performance from singer Katherine Ho of the acclaimed movie Crazy Rich Asians.
