Hanukkah Festival: LA/LA
Inspired by the Getty’s PST: LA/LA initiative, this annual festival explores the themes of Hanukkah through the traditions of L.A.’s Latin American communities. Enjoy musical performances by Latin Jewish bands, create art celebrating light and hope or learn about Mexican chocolate with culinary historian Maite Gomez-Rejón. Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks
The beachside city’s annual holiday celebration features a Skechers-sponsored snow park, a Santa float, live music, and a fireworks show over the pier. Holiday BBQ with Vinovore and Glou Glou Magazine
Silver Lake’s recently opened female-driven wine shop, Vinovore, is partnering with LA’s newly launched word-of-mouth guide to wine, Glou Glou Magazine, to host a holiday BBQ and book signing. Join certified sommelier and owner Coly Den Haan as she pours her favorite wine from Farm Wine Imports to pair with BBQ grilled favorites from Ol’Skool BBQ. Merry Merry Malibu
Malibu VillageMalibu Country Mart, and Malibu Lumber Yard, the neighboring retail centers on Cross Creek Road in Malibu, are presenting a joyous weekend of holiday festivities. Each retail center will host a variety of festive holiday activations and several restaurants and retailers at each of the participating centers will donate a portion of sales from the weekend to support Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. A toy collection for the hospital will take place at the three centers. On Saturday, from noon to 2 pm, an ice sculpture artist will transform Malibu Country Mart into a Winter Wonderland. Pose with Mr. and Mrs. Claus from noon to 4 pm and enjoy the festive spirit with complimentary, holiday-themed activities, including holiday crafts in collaboration with Art 4 People.  Michael Stars and several tenants will be offering refreshments and light bites. In addition, on Saturday from 2 to 5 pm, Malibu Lumber Yard will present holiday crafts, a gingerbread cookie decorating workshop, a holiday tree exhibit created by local Malibu artists, Chiquita’s Friends pet adoptions, and classic holiday favorites sung by carolers.  All stores will be offering holiday fare and refreshments. On Sunday, from 3 to 5 pm, Malibu Village will host the 14th Annual Malibu Christmas Woodie Parade. The event will have a display of historic woodies, a type of car where the rear portion of the bodywork is made of wood; a live musical performance by The Hodads; light holiday fare from Malibu Burger Co. and Marmalade Cafe; and an environmental sustainability booth by the City of Malibu.  The toy collection at Malibu Village will be located at the front of the Depart Foundation.
