Front Porch Cinema’s Line Up Of Free Outdoor Movies On The Santa Monica Pier
The Santa Monica Pier has the return of Front Porch Cinema. The Pier will be transformed into a cozy setting for a night of movies, food, themed drinks in the cinema lounge. Unwind on old-timey lawn chairs, comfy blankets, and watch on a giant screen with the highest quality HD-projection and line-array sound provided by LA’s premier outdoor movie producers, Eat | See | Hear. Presented by website building software company, Squarespace, the series will launch with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone’s award-winning musical “La La Land” this Friday. Library Bar’s Zombie Movie Night
With the countdown to the highly anticipated 8th Season of The Walking Dead in full force, Library Bar in DTLA will be hosting a zombie movie night every Sunday leading up to the premiere on October 22nd. The Third Annual Amber Rose SlutWalk
Amber Rose, activist, entrepreneur and social media sensation, is no stranger to the spotlight and has personally experienced slut-shaming, victim-blaming, and the harmful effects of stereotyping. For the past two years she has been using her platform to be a voice for education and raising awareness about social injustice issues, gender inequality and arts empowerment with the annual Amber Rose SlutWalk. To double the social impact this year, the Amber Rose Foundation is expanding the flagship event with an education-filled Amber Rose Weekend. This Saturday is the First Annual OPENed Women’s Conference. Hosted by The Amber Rose Foundation and USC’s Center for Feminist Research, the women’s conference will feature keynote speaker, Debbie Allen, and a lineup of panelists where unedited conversation meets education, compassion and a sheer desire to enact change. The conference will include workshops and discussions focusing on the following five pillars: know your rights, sex talk & relationships, digital activism, entrepreneurship & financial literacy and policy reform. On Sunday, is the Third Annual Amber Rose SlutWalk which is a nonprofit event that is playing a monumental role in the movement towards gender equality, ending rape culture, victim blaming, slut and body shaming and other social injustice issues. LA Beer Fest
The fall edition of this bi-annual event features dozens of breweries pouring samples of their beers, along with food trucks, cover bands, and tons of people wearing pretzel necklaces. Summer has its last hurrah at The Raymond 1886, amidst National Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the contributions and presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Head Barman Peter Lloyd-Jones leads the revelry with one-of-a-kind mezcal bottlings, signature1886 mezcal cocktails, and cocktail fair prepared by Executive Chef Tim Guiltinan on The Raymond patio with beats by DJ Ces. You will be greeted with a mezcal inspired Raspados, a South of the Border style slushie traditionally made of fruit, blended with ice and seasoned with Chamoy, a spicy Mexican condiment. Two more mezcal cocktails will follow, starting with the Saladito, comprised of lime, honey, mezcal, chile and salt, and rounding off with the Mezcal Buck, featuring ginger, lime amaro, mezcal, and soda. The stylish, design-forward coffee shop is from business owner and entrepreneur, Claire Ackad. Armed with a strong passion for coffee, Ackad has scoured the globe to discover different coffee shops, absorbing both the atmosphere and flavors that contribute to the overall coffee-drinking experience.
