Birds & Bees’ New Summer Cocktails
The hidden 50s inspired cocktail den with mid-century glamour in DTLA, is introducing their new summer Ccocktails. In the cocktail category, What Would They Drink? They offer five libations based on famous faces of the 1950s. There is the Lucille Ball maded of Strawberry & Saffron infused Reposado Tequila, Amontillado Sherry, cinnamon cordial, white peppercorn tincture, and fresh lemon juice; the Patsy Cline features gin, aperol, vanilla Orgeat, fresh lemon, bitters, and egg whites; the Danny Kaye is a tropical Manhattan variation made with coconut infused bourbon, Sweet Vermouth, Pedro Ximenez Sherry, Cynar, and bitters, served with a house-made toasted coconut Rice Krispies treat; the Ella Fitzgerald is comprised of gin, dry vermouth, pickle juice, and Fino Sherry; and the Desi Arnaz is made with rum, Chinese five spice cordial, pineapple, lime, Crème de Peche, and toasted five spice. The house cocktails welcome two new cocktails including the Pelée Punch made with Agricole Rhum, Overproof Rum, Blackstrap Rum, Falernum, Swedish Punsch, lime juice, and Demerara sugar; and the Oaxacan Gold Rush made with Espadin Mezcal, fresh lime juice, Hot Wing Honey, and homemade spicy salt. Crossroads Welcomes Wynn Las Vegas‘ Culinary Kings for a Gastronomic Adventure
Crossroads welcomes the culinary talents of Wynn Las Vegas for a one-night-only “Summer Splendor” dinner. Joining Crossroads Chef/Owner, and Wynn Las Vegas Culinary Consulting Chef, Tal Ronnen, in the kitchen includes Executive Chef David Walzog of Lakeside which is set on the Lake of Dreams at Wynn Las Vegas; Executive Chef Mark LoRusso of Costa di Mare; and lastly Executive Pastry Chef Andy Jin of Lakeside. This team collaborate throughout the year to continue to deliver interesting plant-based fare to diners and guests of Wynn Las Vegas. This evening will have each chef create dishes inspired by the experimentation that takes place among the chefs in the kitchen, as well as will draw from Southern California summer days and its produce. Meat on Ocean Opens
The newest upscale restaurant along Santa Monica’s Ocean Avenue comes complete with an on-site butcher shop, exhibition dry aging room and charcuterie bar. Celebrating the building’s history as a meatpacking facility in the 1940s and 1950s, the new spot from King’s Seafood Company goes back to its meat-focused menu and has a historic restoration of the property’s original architectural elements. The menu, developed by Executive Chef Michael Teich and Culinary Director Damon Gordon, focuses on, you guessed it, meat. With dry-aging and butchering on site, Meat on Ocean has a variety of breeds including Angus, Hereford and Holstein, and products like Snake River Farms American-Style Wagyu in a variety of cuts and preparations. Additionally, the restaurant processes its own Rillettes and Terrines served alongside a selection of cured meats and cheeses. Charcuterie offerings can be ordered individually or as part of customizable boards with house-made accoutrements. Also on the menu are fresh fish selections daily as well as Rotisserie Chicken, Baby Back Pork Ribs and Colorado Rack of Lamb. Side dishes include Charred Cabbage with bacon and brown butter and Grilled Maitake Mushrooms with balsamic glaze, and dessert options are Pistachio Creme Brulee, Apple Polenta Cake and a PB & J Sundae. More than 30 wines are offered by the glass and you will find 20 draught beer selections from local breweries. Chefs’ Dinner at Michael’s On Naples

The Proud Bird Opens
The restaurant is reopening as a new food hall with interactive aviation exhibits and a renovated events center. With Chef Ted Hopson and Ann-Marie Verdi of The Bellwether serving as menu consultants, the Food Bazaar will feature six culinary kitchens inspired by the cultural melting pot that is Los Angeles, and will highlight Asian, Italian and American cuisines. Upon entry, you will receive a “Boarding Pass” which enables you to explore the culinary kitchens at your leisure. The Proud Bird will also be partnering with Bludso’s BBQ and is the only place in the nearby community serving up their famous, mouth-watering BBQ ribs, brisket and pulled pork. The bar program, called The Mile High Club Bar and Lounge, will feature cocktails with a fun aviation-themed twist and provide service with a nod to the iconic first-class flight service of the golden age of travel.
