Dudley Market (9 Dudley Ave, Venice, CA 90291; 424.744.8060) is a simple, quaint market/restaurant that brings the community of Venice Beach hearty espresso drinks, satisfying foods, and expertly curated artisan goods. Hidden on Dudley Ave between the boardwalk and speedway, this quiet spot has floor to ceiling windows, hardwood floors, exposed brick, white subway tile, a marble counter, and a wall full of oils, soaps, kitchen supplies, seasonings, from local companies.
Jesse Barber is behind this eatery and market and is known for his simple, honest food and ingredient-driven menu. Barber utilizes local, seasonally fresh ingredients in his menu of dishes like Avocado Toast with fromage; Roasted Kale and Polenta with two sunny side up eggs and avocado; Tomato Gazpacho; and my personal favorite the Salmon Rillette. The Salmon is poached and the served piled high on toast with dijon on one slice and creme fraiche on the other. It is filling and savory. I couldn’t stop eating it.
I love Venice (I live in Venice), but Venice can also be very busy, loud, and difficult to escape. Dudley Market allows you to grab great food, in a hideaway away from the Venice craziness. Whether you are looking for a great cup of coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a unique gift for a friend, Dudley Market is a great place to swing on by.
