Viento

Breeze Restaurant at Century City’s Hyatt Regency Century Plaza has taken food and restaurants to the next level. They defy tradition and unveil a chic new pop-up restaurant (within a restaurant) every sic months. In a city known for reinvention, Breeze goes above and beyond to change its interior and menu for each pop-up.

The first pop-up for Breeze is Viento, a Pan-Latin inspired restaurant featuring mid-century modern design and an inventive selection of farm-to-table tapas and fresh cocktails from Executive Chef Felix Nappoly’s culinary team. You may think….ok, every six months? How good can the food be? Well, it’s not only good, it’s great. They created a menu that is unlike any menu I have had, along with service that is on top of its game.

Tyler and I started off with Al Pastor Shrimp, which is Sautéd with pineapple, Lime Emulsion, Micro Cilantro. It was slightly sweet and refreshing. We also had the Octopus Ceviche (we are huge Octopus fans) that was served with Pedro Ranch Avocado, Tostada, Heirloom Tomato, Corn Nut, Pico de Gallo. It was also light, and the perfect mixture of flavors, that works well together. From there we had the Achiote Salmon served with Guava Vinaigrette, Fried Lentils, Chorizo, Kale Lollipop and the Natural Filet with Ancho Chili Demi, Manchego Potato Puree, Asparagus, and Carrots. The Salmon was executed perfectly. I find that when a fish is topped with a sauce, many times it can be over powering, but here it worked perfectly. Plus, the lentils were savory, hearty and a great compliment to the fish. The Natural Filet melted in our mouths and was perfect with the puree. I honestly couldn’t choose a favorite. Want a sweet finish? (well, we were treated to Champagne…engaged!), but we also had Helado de Aguacate-Avocado, Cactus Pear Compote, Milhojas, which is ice cream, but almost a little smoother because of the avocado. Viento is the perfect date spot. With inventive food, a beautiful atmosphere, and amazing service, get to Viento before it’s not here!
