Finally, a juice place that speaks to me. The Hive in Santa Monica specializes in kombucha drinks, along with juices, juice shots, and smoothies. They never dilute their ingredients, leaving the full nutritional benefits in tact, and they never add ice. I tend to eat a low sugar diet, and juices are packed with sugar. Here, I was able to order up kombucha without any added juices and juices that were made from kale, celery, cucumber, spinach, lemon and apple….low in sugar. I also tried the strawberry basil, which was equally delicious.
Before we jumped head first into the kombucha, we each had a Guardian Bee shot made with cayenne (it’s spicy), lemon, ginger and bee pollen. It’s not for any weaklings out there. If you can’t handle the heat, stick to the juices. Order, try a smoothie. The Bee’s Knees is a treat and made with strawberries, banana, coconut, almond milk, orange, vanilla, and honey. They also have an array of enhancers and superfood boosts you can add to any of your drinks.
They have a few items under the food menu including bowls, a vegan burrito, and a panini. They are rolling out more food in the future too. One menu item I love is their kombucha growler. Just like a beer growler, you can buy it and fill it up for $10 and every refill after is only $8. For someone like me, that’s exciting news. Looks like I will be making a weekly stop.
Overall, I love the industrial space with bursts of positivity. You feel good, while you are doing good for your body. Doesn’t get much better than that!
