The 3rd Annual Los Angeles Bacon Festival will take place at Paramount Studios New York Streets back lot and feature dozens of restaurants and bakeries all paying homage to all things bacon. Hotel Casa del Mar has announced the return of INSOMNIA, a magic and comedy show from critically acclaimed “modern conjurer” Derek Hughes. Celebration of Entertainment Awards

The District by Hannah An Opens
This new modern, sexy, Vietnamese restaurant has two stories, earthy hues, wooden accents, a 280-year-old door that’s now a communal table, lighting that resembles bubbles, and handmade noodles is opening this weekend. Little Easy Opens
Two weeks until Mardi Gras, but you can party on down with a little bar that feels just like the French Quarter now. Open at Downtown’s Alexandria Hotel is a bar with chandeliers, heavy curtains, and a stuffed, upright alligator facing the L-shaped, golden, bar. They are serving Vieux Carrés, Sazeracs, gumbo and Abita-braised brisket here. Down the hall is a patio with a fountain in the center, Soul music everywhere, and a porch swing. Harlowe’s Brunch
Amirault and Bar Manager Ben Scott collaborated on the cocktail menu, which offers haute versions of familiar classics, such as a Sangrita transformed into the Friendly Fire with Fidencio Mezcal, Ancho Reyes, Cynar with watermelon syrup, tomato juice, lemon, and Chesapeake Bay Bitters. Other libations include the Coffee is for Closers, which is a combo of Teeling’s Irish Whiskey and Stumptown topped with Chartreuse whipped cream, and the Wakey, Wakey, combining bacon-infused Fighting Cock 6 Year Bourbon, Cynar, maple syrup, egg, and coffee dust. Café Pinot’s The Art of Charcuterie
This educational program is taught by Executive Chef Joe Vasiloff and he shares his knowledge on with detailed courses that delve into the time-honored method of curing and preserving meats. The new hands-on learning series, offered monthly, rotates theme and focuses this weekend on a study on Duck Prosciutto and Duck Rillette. During the two-hour chef-guided lesson, taught in the prep kitchen, you will witness demos of the crafting of the highlighted theme. Birthday Bash at East Borough
In honor of turning one, East Borough will offer a one-night-only “Southern Borough Boil” featuring Crawfish, Mussels, Clams, and Head-on Shrimp, accompanied by seasonal vegetables, in a traditional Cajun-style Southern boil for market prices. You can order each dish by the pound and add sausage to the mix. For dessert, the restaurant will feature traditional Beignets with powdered sugar for $7.
