Terraine (8265 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90048; 323.746.5130) is an elegant yet country French restaurant from Stephane Bombet (Picca, Mo-chica, Paiche, Blue Tavern, and Faith & Flower), owner of Bombet Hospitality Group. It’s a bright space with ample outside lighting and a gorgeous back patio. This past Friday they launched brunch (available Friday-Sunday) and with Kris Morningstar’s (Ray’s & Stark Bar and Blue Velvet) detail oriented, simple, yet bold flavors, you can’t go wrong with the seasonal French cuisine.
Some of our favorite dishes included the avocado toast which had a tarragon salsa verde that worked perfectly with the lemon and avocados. We also loved the Brussel sprouts which were a perfect mixture of savory and sweet with pecans, braeburns, dates and pecorino. Other highlights included the Frisée Aux Lardons with a perfectly slow cooked egg and bacon; the spicy fried chicken & grits; the Brussels sprout pizza with a sunny side up egg, fontina and Calabrian chiles, and my personal favorite, the huge charcuterie that had the most delicious meats, pickles, and olives. I love how they included a smoked beef, which is rarely seen on a charcuterie plate.
We enjoyed the brunch all the while sipping on creations from Ryan Wainwright. He has created renditions of drinks you already love as well as drinks you will try and then love. We sipped on the French 75 (Beefeater, lemon, Prosecco) which was refreshing; the Winter Champagne Cocktail (Spiced cranberry cordial, lemon, Prosecco); and our favorite the Gordon’s Cup made with Plymouth, lime and cucumber.
Terrine is the perfect brunch to relax and take you time. With great service, beautiful atmosphere, and a mouth watering menu, it’s an upscale twist on Los Angeles’ favorite meal.
