Grist & Toll Bread Baking Series, Local Grains, with Jonathan Bethony
Join Nan Kohler and Jonathan Bethony as they lead you through the process of creating two loaves of 100% whole grain bread using natural leaven. This is the 3rd class in Grist & Toll’s Guest Instructor Series called: Adjusting Formulas for Local Grains. They will discuss and teach how to adjust bread formulas and techniques in order to deal with a changing supply of local wheat. Rivals in the Ring
The Los Angeles Athletic Club and Espada Boxing are teaming up again for The L.A. Collegiate Boxing Invitational. The night’s events will feature 10 USIBA sanctioned bouts with the main event between rivals USC versus UCLA. The UCLA Spirit Squad will be the ring girls for the night and perform during half time. Art “Pops Up” in Glendale with Temporary Art Installations
Glendale launches its newest arts initiative, GALA (Glendale Area Temporary Exhibitions), a project that will transform vacant storefronts and commercial spaces into temporary art galleries on a rotating basis through the end of 2015. GALA’s inaugural installations are: Charm(s), a collaborative exhibition featuring the work of Mavis Leahy, Gloria Newton, and Toti M. O’Brien; and Worlds Scoop Their Arcs by Sharon Suhovy. Charm(s) explores narratives and storytelling with large- and small-scale puppet pieces, using the space to create a display of enchanting curios. Worlds Scoop Their Arcs is a large-scale sculptural installation of decorative fans, each exquisitely constructed and painted with unique symbolic imagery.
