General Lee’s, (475 Gin Lin Way, Los Angeles, CA, 90012) has taken over the old Mountain Bar in Chinatown. Founded by JB Moresco (Smoke & Mirrors, Writer’s Room), the interior is designed with an old school Chinatown vibe with dark lighting, dark wood, foliage, and Chinese lanterns.
The drinks are by Gez McAlpine (The Keefer Bar, Vancouver), and once a month, guest bartenders will take over.
The current fall cocktail menu includes the Old Chinatown made with rye, Five Spice Gomme, benedictine, and chocolate bitters; the Lost Orient Sour made with mezcal, Pearl Sake, lemon, black sesame syrup, and egg white; the Kahn Punch made with Caña Brava Rum, peach and honey shrub, and cinnamon tincture; the Red Dragon Highball made with candies ginger infused Aylesbury Duck Vodka, lemon, anise syrup, salt, and orange bitters; the East is East made with rye, cognac, Oolong Tea infused sweet vermouth, dry curacao, Peychauds Bitters, and Boker Bitters; the Penicillian Fizz made with Isaly Scotch, lemon, ginger syrup, honey, house bitters, and Sapporo Lager; the Zen Garden Negroni made with Ford’s Gine, rosetip infused lillet blanc, Aperol, Campari, Szechuan, and pepper tincture; the Cherry Blosson Rising made with Fino sherry, lemon, simple syrup, Luxardo Maraschino, and orange blossom water; the Shisho Samir made with shisho leaf infused tequila cabeza, lime, simple syrup, Peychaud’s bitters; and the Green Tea Gimlet made with vodka and green tea cordial.
