I am very excited, my new hood just got The Anchor, (235 Main St., Venice, CA 90291; 310.664.9696) a wine bar that is soft opening today. Besides wine, they are offering fresh oysters, waffle-crusted Jidori chicken wings, lobster pot pie, shaved truffles lobster rolls, charcuterie, smoked bay scallops, kale & quinoa salad, braised octopus, pork tenderloin medallions and desserts like the smores panna cotta with a graham cracker rice crispy with smoked marshmallow. Chef Dustin Taylor (Michael’s, Comme Ca) is behind the menu along with pastry chef Sarah Green.
The Anchor’s vibe is industrial rustic meets the beach with a bar under a large rope/light fixture, antique mirrors, brick, black tufted booths, dark lighting and, of course, anchors here and there. Grab a spot on the giant patio and enjoy the beach scenery.
