The Carving Board

The Carving Board (7300 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles 90046) is a new place to get gourmet sandwiches in Los Angeles (finally). They aim to offer unique sandwiches like cold sections including Sweet November (Turkey breast, goat cheese, cucumber, tomato, onion, dried cranberries, balsamic reduction on sliced nine grain); Napa Valley (Turkey breast, prosciutto di parma, swiss, butter lettuce, tomato, eggplant tapenade on sliced sourdough); Clydedale (Roast beef, swiss, grilled onions, mushrooms, cucumbers, creamy horseradish sauce on seeded rye); Roughage (Fresh mozzarella, portobello mushroom, fresh basil, cucumber, tomato, avocado, butter lettuce, pesto mayo on sliced nine grain); and Wolfgang  (Turkey, goat cheese, sun-dried tomato, fresh spinach, pesto on sliced nine grain).

 Hot Sandwiches include The Bentley, made with filet mignon, blue cheese, caramelized onion, fresh spinach and bacon mayo on a ciabatta roll (um, you had me at filet mignon); The Pot Roast (Braised beef, carrots, brown gravy, parmesan crusted corn mashed potato in an open faced ciabatta roll); Sunrise Sandwich (Ham or bacon, two eggs, mozzarella, cheddar, hash browns on a telera roll); Wealthy Po’ Boy (Shrimp, garlic butter scampi sauce, spinach in an open faced ciabatta roll, topped with a crab cake); Midnight Snack (Bacon, lettuce, tomato, over easy egg, bacon mayo on sliced nine grain); Longhorn (Braised short rib, bbq sauce, grilled onions, mixed greens, parmesan cheese on sliced sourdough) ; and Big Kahuna (Seared Ahi tuna, cucumbers, marinated wakame seaweed, tomato, onion, carving spread on a brioche bun). Sandwiches can also be made into salads too and they have a burger that you can “boost” with all sorts of toppings. Doesn’t stop there. They have an array of grilled cheese that come in varieties including short rib, crab cake and ham. Full menu here.
