I was lucky enough to ask the founder, Sarah Ehrlich, some questions about her journey to creating this company:
What was the force behind starting Ashieda? Have you had skin problems?
I grew up around salons because my mom had several of them. I always loved skin care and worked as an aesthetician before getting involved in charity work 10 years ago.
I learned about starting my own social enterprise while I was at a conference at Yale 3 years ago. I thought that merging my love of youthful looking skin and charity would be great. A percentage of the proceeds benefit Help for Orphans International which goes towards sending vulnerable and innocent victims of circumstance, who would have never otherwise had a chance in life, to either nursing or cosmetology school.
What hurdles did you come across in developing your own skincare company?
Finding quality product; products that REALLY work. We will not produce a product unless we are sure that the results will be dramatic and show anti-aging benefits immediately.
If someone was to purchase just one item from Ashieda to make a difference in their skin, which item would you recommend?
The mask works immediately and the drink shows results after three days. If I had to pick, though, I guess I would recommend for them to get a one month supply of the Beauty Nectar to see a big difference in their skin.
Overall, what do you think is the most important thing to do for our skin, whether it’s moisturize, always wash it before bed, etc.?
Moisture is the most important. Drink plenty of water and take a collagen and resveratrol supplement like Beauty Nectar.
I was surprised and impressed by the Beauty Nectar Collagen Drink. I am a big believer in what we consume shows in our skin. How did you develop this product?
Collagen drinks have been popular in Asia for over 15 years. I found it many years ago and used it myself along with other things like antioxidants, resveratrol and Vitamin C to keep my skin looking young. So when I started Ashieda it was kind of a no-brainer to create this all-in-one, convenient and extremely effective preventative/anti-aging drink.
I was amazed at what you have accomplished in your life! What are you most proud of and what do you still want to do?
Thank you. That’s really nice to hear. Well, the truth of it is I love helping orphans. I want to keep my hand in the development of new products and make sure that our quality stays where it is in Ashieda, but I’d also like to spend most of my time traveling and helping in developing countries. However, I don’t want people to buy Ashieda products because of my interest in helping; I want people to buy our anti-aging products because they are the absolute best on the market.
