On July 2, playwright, author and screenwriter Liz Meriwether joins The Writers’ Room with Reza Aslan, a new take on the typically traditional literary event that includes a live house band, cocktails, and audience interaction. The Writer’s Room is an intimate yet fast-paced conversation with some of today’s most compelling poets, novelists, non-fiction writers and screenwriters. Reza Aslan, a controversial, internationally acclaimed writer and scholar of religions, and author of the #1 New York Times Bestseller Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth, hosts the monthly series that is formatted much in the way of the popular series Inside The Actors Studio — but for writers.
Meriwether is best known for her 2010 play Oliver Parker!, 2011 romantic comedy No Strings Attached, and the hit Fox sitcom New Girl. She will talk about these different mediums and her writing process. As part of the night, a Q&A between the audience and the featured author will bring the discussion to a close. West Hollywood bookstore, Book Soup, will provide books on site from the featured author for both purchase and signing.
$20; seating is on a first come, first served basis; first Wednesday of every month, doors: 7 pm, house band: 7:30 pm, discussion: 8pm; 7969 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90046
