MUJI Santa Monica

MUJI is what I like to call an upscale Japanese Ikea and they are opening their second location in Los Angeles. MUJI Santa Monica’s (2936 Main St., Santa Monica, CA 90405) will open its 6,300-square-foot space on June 20 at 10 am and they’re hosting two public events leading up to the opening.

The first event on Wednesday, May 28 will feature a talk between MUJI president Masaaki Kanai and Hitoshi Abe, chair of UCLA’s Department of Architecture and Urban Design. The free chat will take place at Venice Arts (1702 Lincoln Blvd.), where all guests will receive a Santa Monica-themed tote and travel mug. (Reserve a spot here.) The second public celebration will be a pre-opening shopping party on Thursday, June 19 from 6-9 pm. The first 50 shoppers will receive that same SaMo tote, along with a notebook. (Tickets here.)
