I was sad to see House Cafe close, but it’s time to meet whose taking their spot. Marvin, (8114 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90048) is a French bistro from restaurateur Bruce Marder (Capo) and his son, Max Marder, and Steven Arroyo (Escuela, Potato Chips).
With it’s name derived from owners’ last name and the French word for wine, vin, this place definitely has Arroyo’s influences. The French space has large aluminum cans line the ceiling, a long bar with 200 bottles of wine behind it, and wooden cafe tables inside and out.
Chef Ricky Moreno is behind the bistro-style menu, that includes cheeses, charcuterie, veggie heavy appetizers, steak tartare, duck liver, and cassoulet. Main dishes include lamb neck with mint, porchetta, and a 40-ounce cote du bouef. Desserts include French staples, pot de creme or chocolate souffle.
Opens Wednesday, May 28, and will be serving dinner Tuesday-Sunday, 5 pm until midnight.
