Grilled Cheese keeps popping up in Los Angeles. To join the other restaurants dedicated to the ooey gooey-ness, welcome Asiago Grilled Cheese (350 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90071) opened last week in Downtown with a menu that is build your sandwich. For breakfast, you can construct your own cheese omelette with 2 scrambled eggs, choice of cheese, and any 2 ingredients; or do a breakfast grilled cheese on bread or bagel with spread and cheese. You can also go the breakfast burrito route with 2 scrambled eggs, salsa, ham, and hash browns in a flour tortilla.
Lunch is where you make your own sandwich. Start with choosing your bread: white, Sourdough, whole grain wheat, Ciabatta, Rye or flour tortilla. Then chose your spread like basil pesto, garlic, chipotle mayo, mayo, nutella or fig jam. Now, is the cheese: Asiago, American, Blue Jack Marble, Brie, Gouda Smoked, Gryère, Havarti Dill, Mozzarella, Cheddar, Muenster, Cheddar Extra Sharp, Pepper Jack Habanero, Colby-Jack, Provolone, Feta, Swiss, Fontina Swedish, White Cheddar Horseradish Chive and even, Vegan! Additional ingredients include Sun-Dried Tomato Strips, Kalamata Olives, Raisins, Caramelized Onions, Jalapeño Peppers, Grilled Eggplant, Fresh Basil, Avocado and Crispy Onions…to name just a few. You can also add protein for an added fee. They have Beef Pastrami, Smoked Ham, Oven-Roasted Turkey Breast, Applewood Bacon, Grilled Breast of Chicken, White Albacore Tuna, Italian Prosciutto, Sliced Pepperoni and Genoa Salami. Plus, there’s soup and salad and their own creations like the Skinny Melt, Sweet Melt and Santé Fe BBQ Chicken.
