Venice restaurant developer Paul Hibler has opened Superba Food & Bread (1906 Lincoln Blvd., Venice, 90291). This modern bakery and restaurant is based on community and was designed by Design, Bitches (Superba Snack Bar, The Oinkster), who gave the spot a minimalist, mod Japanese look. The interior banquette is blue and green and made from the protective material used when shipping or moving furniture. In the morning, the bar will serve pastries and baked goods from head baker, Jonathan Eng,(Le Pain Quotidien) and Lincoln Carson behind the pastries, and at night, the bar will function as a wine bar. Also during the evening, the LED lights in the ceiling will cast tiny rays of light down below. On Superba’s exterior, that waved gray material is concrete roofing from Germany.
As for food, order up pretzel croissants, tomato jam/fennel biscuits, and orange blossom cannelles for breakfast and rotisserie chicken with bitter greens and walnut-maple dressing and a burrata sandwiches for lunch. Chef Jason Travi (littlefork) with help from Superba Snack Bar’s Jason Neroni have created a la carte dinner menu plus family-style set list.
You can order up beer and wine on a list curated by wine guru (and GM) Ashley Ragovin (Scopa). In addition to the pastries and bake goods previously mentioned, Superba will offer bread by bicycle delivery within a two and a half mile radius.
Open 8 am-midnight.
