Café Röckenwagner (1168 S. Barrington Ave., Los Angeles, 90049; 310.478.6313) is opening January 27th and serving up breakfast, lunch, dinner, and to go. It’s a combo of Hans Röckenwagner’s Röckenwagner Bakery and 3 Square Café. Montalba Architects designed the open space and has a patio, a kitchen that faces the bar, and wood work from Röckenwagner. The counter and pastry case has to-go items like breakfast pastries, bread, desserts, and pretzels.
Expect coffee from Stumptown, and Kayson Chong, along with burgers in pretzel buns; the BW Cast Iron beef burger with Provolone, shiitake, onion rings and miso-Russian sauce; a lamb burger with roasted peppers and harissa mayo; a quinoa and hummus burger with roasted peppers and romesco; steamed mussels with chorizo; pan-roasted red snapper; grilled octopus with pickled ginger; Jidori chicken with lemon pomme puree; smoked salmon mousse; short rib ravioli; double-cut pork chop with whipped polenta and pork jus; pepper crusted beef short ribs; avocado fries; shredded kale and Brussels sprouts; and cocktails made with shochu and wine.
Cocktails include Fresh made with muddled cucumber, thyme-shochu, Lillet Blanc; Sweet with Black Muscat Wine, Cherry Herring, Andalo, bitters; Beer with Altbier, Rosemary, Blackberry; and Stone with Cocchi Americano, Dolin Blanc, Gentaine.
