I came across Amy Donfrio, a self proclaimed Cali beach bum, at the monthly Rose Bowl in December. While sorting through antiques and tchotkes, her artwork caught my eye. She creates elevated collages from classic albums, glitter, paint, bottle openers, pipe cleaners, stamps. buttons and, of course love. She made old items new and all in a unique way. I was immediately attracted to the 60’s and 70’s LPs with my parents always playing their favorite music while I was growing up.
After going to her site, I saw that she creates much more. There, you can shop her “secret space” boxes, T-shirts, jewelry, and wall art all made from “found objects” and recycled material. I love the tongue in cheek humor her quirky pieces give out. These are definitely feel good works of art.
