Lotería Grill and Cantina
Chef Jimmy Shaw is proud to debut two new concepts in Downtown LA that celebrate the lifestyle and flavors of Mexico. On December 13, Loteria Grill and Cantina (and the new Torta Company) are opening their doors at FIGat7th in downtown LA. This is the sixth outpost of Loteria Grill and has a menu made of sauces and stews or guisos with the spice and sweetness of Mexico. Their famous tacos will hold center court with optionslike Loteria’s Shredded Beef, Chicken in Mole Poblano and Carnitas with Chile Morita Sauce.To celebrate, there will be an event full of Mexican music, food and Casa Herradura cocktails. Held in the courtyard of the FIGat7th complex, ticket holders will sample menu selections while enjoying performance by La Santa Cecilia. Torta Company
Neighboring the Loteria will be the first location for Torta Company; a new venture by Jimmy Shaw and his brother Andrew. Tortas are Mexican sandwiches eaten as a mid-morning snack/lunch or for a light dinner and is a perfect restaurant for Los Angeles, being the second largest Mexican city in the world. Menu items include an array of traditional tortas like the Steak Pepito, Milanesa de Pollo (Breaded Chicken Breast), or the Pierna Adobada (pulled pork). New options are also available like the Pescado Veracruzana (Veracruz style snapper) with cream, black beans, batter fried snapper, plantain, Veracruz tomato sauce, and jalapeno peppers; Mole de Guajolote (turkey in mole sauce) with braised white turkey in authentic Poblano mole sauce, black beans, Cotija cheese, lettuce and cilantro; and the vegetarian Mushroom oyster Tinga with pinto beans, Oaxaca cheese, avocado and jalapenos. For early morning, there are a breakfast tortas like the Huevos con Chorizo; Huevos with smoked ham and Cheddar cheese; and Huevos a la Mexicana, all made with black beans, tomato, avocado and chipotle mayo. There are also open face Molletes available with chorizo, bacon, ham, or served in the traditional format of black bean spread and broiled jack cheese with Mexican Pico de Gallo or jalapeno peppers.

In addition to Loteria Grill and Torta Co., expect New Moon Cafe, Mediterranean Twist & Grill, Gentaro Soba, gastropub City Tavern, and Pazzo Gelato to open in the dining destination, The Taste at Figat7th.
