Movember was launched in Australia in 2003 as a fun way to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues, including prostate and testicular cancer. Today, millions of men around the world start November 1 with a clean shave and grow moustaches for 30 days while they raise funds for men’s health-related charities through the Movember Foundation.
Del Frisco’s Grille
Participating in “Movember” with events to raise funds for men’s health through the Movember Foundation at this Santa Monica spot. On November 1, Del Frisco’s Grille will offer clean shaves from 3-7 pm from West Hollywood barber, Richie the Barber at the “Stache Bash” Movember kick-off party. There will also be trivia, drink specials, a raffle, fun prizes, free rides from Santa Monica Free Ride and more. They will also premiere the MOvember MENu, with items like The Philly Fuzz, cheesesteak eggrolls with chili sauce; Incog-Meat-O, homemade Italian-spiced meatballs; Food Man Chew, seared Asian tuna salad; The Chick Magnet, a chicken avocado wrap as well as Movember specialty cocktails – theLip Tickler and Stiff Upper Lip. A percentage of all proceeds from the MOvember MENu will benefit the Movember Foundation. They are also having “Moustache Mondays” which means if you have a moustache or stache apparel, you receive a complimentary appetizer (one per table of four) or receive a “bounce back” coupon good for $10 off in January and February. Del Frisco’s Grille will donate proceeds from Movember t-shirts and select menu items to the Movember Foundation. Additionally, Del Frisco’s Grille will hold a “Best in Mo” moustache Facebook contest. Enter photos of your moustache with a creative title here from November 1 – 22. The winner will be announced on December 3 and they will receive a dinner for four at Del Frisco’s Grille, free rides from LYFT, gym memberships from Equinox, tickets to area hotels and attractions such as Pacific Park, ICE and more.
Rock & Brews
The El Segundo and Redondo Beach locations are raising money for awareness about men’s testicular and prostate cancer through the Movember movement. The kick off event is in El Segundo with a “Shave the Date” party on November 1st at 4 pm. Receive old-fashioned shaves by George from George’s Barber Shop in El Segundo on a first come, first served basis in preparation. Rock & Brews in El Segundo will also host a “Rock The Stashe” party on November 14, from 6 pm – 10 pm.
