Portsmouth (13103 Penn St., Whittier, 90602; 562.789.9700) is a casual seafood restaurant from Jay Arroyo, Nikomi Arroyo,and Bernardo Pena (Phlight). They have a French-Mexican menu full of ceviches, oysters and clams (my mouth is drooling already). One ceviche includes a version with seared salmon and Michelada (snapper and clams steamed in beer), then topped with tomatoes, lime and Tapatio. Chef Daniel Salcido (Phlight) is manning the kitchen and creating dishes like shrimp zarandeado skewers, lobster mac & cheese, and a crab cake sandwich.
