Kimukatsu (4114 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City, CA 90230) is a tonkatsu chain that’s also opening soon. Kimukatsu is the famous pork cutlet restaurant in Japan, with multiple locations in Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Sendai, etc. The dish that makes them so famous is their crispy batter around their 25-layered pork cutlet. They literally slice a pork cutlet thinly and stacked it into 25 layers. They then cover the pork with fresh breadcrumbs and fry it slowly at a low temperature for 8 minutes.
With a minimal design of wooden details and colorful chairs, you can eat their layered pork dish that starts at $15. The 25 layers of pork and come stuffed with cheese, black pepper, and garlic. Some varieties include demi-glace cheese, okonomiyaki, and ume-shiso. The menu also has sides like agedashi tofu and desserts like Shingen ice (ice cream with soy bean powder and syrup) and black sesame pudding.
Open daily from 11:30 am-3 pm for lunch and 5-11 pm for dinner.
