Del Rey Kitchen’s (12740 Culver Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90066; 310.822.7788) is in an area you may not know called Del Rey (in between Culver City and Playa Del Rey). Michael Yee and chef Satoru Yokomori have taken the best parts of Kenji Minamida’s now-closed Sawtelle Kitchen.
As for the menu, they are serving up appetizers like Beef Carpaccio; Tofu Steak (with egg, dashi, katsuobushi, and nori); and Albacore Tiradito; Devil’s Tofu (Spicy). Pastas include Spicy Caviar; alle Vongole (Manilla clams, oyster mushrooms, garlic, sake flambé); and Naporitan (bacon, pepper, onions, zuke, mushrooms, housemade tomato sauce). Entrees come with a choice of White or Brown Rice and include a Hamburg Steak (you can add Mozzarella or a fried egg); Samurai Steak (10oz Santa Maria steak, sake glaze, garlic roasted tomato, rosemary’s potatoes); and Chicken Pimentón.
When they obtain a beer and wine license in coming weeks, they’ll start offering a more expansive izakaya-style menu. Currently open Tuesday-Sunday, 5:30-9:30 pm.
