Crème Caramel LA

Crème Caramel LA (14849 Burbank Blvd., Sherman Oaks, 91411), is a new dessert spot with a focus on custard. Launching today in Sherman Oaks, baker Kristine de la Cruz is serving up sweet and savory flavors. They have pastries, breakfast and lunch like Spanish tortilla potato omelet; Chinese sausage and scallion biscuits; and salted caramel scones. For lunch, grab BenTea Boxes (a combo of a bento box and high tea). The boxes are filled with seasonal sandwiches like fig, caramelized onion jam, goat cheese, arugula, and steamed egg crêpe with green onions and spam. Oh, and don’t miss the Unicorn Poop. It’s a house-made meringue dusted with rainbow sugar. Kids can find them in their BenTea Boxes.

They also sell locally made food goods from Coldwater Canyon Provisions, Mother Moo Creamery, Nuttin’ Butter, etc. Wash down all the goodies (including the Unicorn poop) with Cafecito Organico coffee, and Filipino-inspired agua frescas.

Not too shabby for a girl who got her start vending flavored custards a few years ago at local farmers markets.
