LA River Kayak Safari (2825 Benedict St., Glassell Park; 323.463.6363) is happening. Who would have thought!? But, there is almost 50 miles running from the West Valley to Long Beach.
Until Labor Day, the rapid-heavy section of the river in the Glendale Narrows is open to the public for the first time since the 1930s. LA River Kayak Safari will take you on a shuttle from Elysian Park to the riverbank, where you’ll be given a river cruiser for the 15-minute bike ride along the shoreline.
Then you get a kayak, safety gear, and instructions on how to traverse the 2.5 miles downstream. ($65)
