Thursday, August 29th at 1 pm, Los Angeles-based indie rock band Grouplove will return to The Red Bull Sound Space at KROQ, to put on a performance for 150 lucky fans. The band will be playing some of their big hits like “Tongue Tied”, as well as previewing new tracks off their forthcoming sophomore album, Spreading Rumors (out September 17th).
You can find Grouplove between the music of Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire. The quintet began hashing out plans to meet up after being introduced at an art residency on the Greek island of Crete, and put some of the music they had been working on to tape back in LA. Grouplove’s debut EP was released by Canvasback in 2010 and while touring with Florence + The Machine early the following year, Grouplove finalize plans for their full-length album, Never Trust a Happy Song, which appeared later that fall. The band tours with Australian group The Rubens this fall, spending 2 nights in each city to play small and unique venues. Their new album, Spreading Rumors, drops September 17th.
The Red Bull Sound Space was once an office space, but now it’s a stage for underground rock and roll. Since its launch in October 2011, the space has hosted Coldplay, The Black Keys, Bad Religion, Matt & Kim, The Fray, Of Monsters and Men, PEPPER, Keane, FUN, Falling in Reverse, Angels & Airwaves, Pennywise, Silversun Pickups, Neon Trees, Imagine Dragons, Metric, Serj Tankian, M83, Passion Pit, Grouplove, Slightly Stoopid, Fitz and the Tantrums (KROQ), as well as Maroon 5, Miguel, Flo Rida & Nelly Furtado (AMP).
