Put it between two slices of bread! That’s how it works at Pork Belly’s Sandwich Shop (1146 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice, 90291). At this sandwich shop on Abbot Kinney they are cranking out sandwiches full of juices meat and people can’t seem to get enough of it. We ordered their signature sandwich, The Belly Up, with pork pulled from the in-house smoker (it can hold 300 pounds of meat), topped with barbecue sauce and coleslaw on a brioche roll and it was heaven. The combo of coleslaw, sauce and melt in your mouth meat is the creation of a perfect sandwich. You can also order up The Chop with brisket smoked for over 12 hours topped with home made BBQ sauce and deep fried pickles on a brioche roll; The Abbot Joe, which is chorizo sloppy joe with potatoes, onions , and green peppers, topped with a fried egg on a brioche roll; or The PBLT, yes that’s pork belly instead of bacon. Ask for fried pickles, potato salad, tots, sweet potato tots, chop tots & slop tots (like chili cheese fries), or meat by the pound on the side.
Save room for dessert! They have large chocolate chip cookies and mini chocolate chip cookies made through out the day.
And be for warned, after inhaling their sandwiches, you may need to take a nap. It’s the perfect afternoon grub, followed by an afternoon nap. Open all week 10:30 am – 9 pm.
