Horse Thief BBQ (317 Broadway, Los Angeles, 90013), is the new Texas-style spot that has college friends, Russell Malixi and Wade McElroy, smoking meat. It is officially soft open at Grand Central Market and I was lucky enough to check it out last weekend.
The simple space has a decor with clean lines, sleek wooden picnic tables, and a black and grey color palette. The space is perfect for so many things. Whether it’s lunch, a date, or a night out (full bar and music to come), Horse Thief is a relaxed place to hang out with great food.
They have beef brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, turkey, and chicken legs all smoked up with a Texas style rub. I couldn’t get enough of the beef brisket. It melted in your mouth. The ribs were my second favorite. They were savory with a little kick in the end. Sides include blue cheese & bacon potato salad, heirloom beans (vegan), apple fennel slaw (vegan), jicama slaw (vegetarian), mac & cheese (vegetarian), and creamed corn (vegetarian). End your feast on a sweet note with drop biscuit cobbler and banana pudding.
